Blog Category: No Category Blog Tags: No Tags Not anything too extensive; just trying out zoints' blog to see how I like it. Status: my car is 90%. To be 100%, I need (and it's currently at a place called AllRoad Performance) to have a small cam gear seal leak repaired as well as QA/QC'ing (Quality Assurance/Quality Control) the overall state of my modifications, especially my exhaust which I think has a leak. The other 5% is to get a solid tune, ie. exploiting Victor's expertise at the new awd dyno here in Indiana, or exploiting Jorge's expertise up at the Dyno in Chicago, or at least self tuning with UTEC and/or ECUExplorer(??? aka reflashing the oem ecu myself.) Not needed but potential modifications I might do might be to install the GBA/TXS DTEC, install EGT sensors on all 4 cylinders*, purchase new UEGO sensor from TXS... I can't think of anything else right now, but I'm sure there are other things I've considered. BTW, not that anyone would be interested in this besides myself, but I have the title now. I don't know if I can say that I own it, technically, because I just consolidated by getting a 7.5% student loan and paying off most of my other bills. I sold my 2.5 RS which was really a great car with relatively very few blemishes or defects. [insert sad smilie code here] It really wasn't a difficult decision because as much as it was worth, it would have been a terrible idea to modify it and as great of a platform as it was, it would only have been a keeper if I could've made it into a GC8 STi wannabe or even installed a huge turbocharger. It was fun with stock power, but just not fun enough. I broke even pretty much. Since then, I bought another awd, forced-induced beater but one that's value was small enough that if I modify it, I won't be losing any more value. Proprietarily, it might not be as apt to call it awd as it would be to call it....Quattro. It's a 1986 Audi 5000cs stationwagon. It is what I'd consider 'quick', but it's not anywhere near the fastest thing on the road; especially compared to my WRX wagon. However, going from a 2.5RS as a second car to a turbo quattro, it's definitely noticeably quick. Unfortunately, if you were to try and nail me down wrt (with regards to) specifics, I couldn't give them to you. The speedo/odo/fuel/cruise all do not work (all sensors tied to the same control mechanism within the ECU), and the oem, digital boost meter is pretty clearly in error. For one thing, it doesn't show vacuum and when it should obviously be in vacuum, it show's like .2 or .3 bar. It never goes above 1.1 bar, but I'd actually guess that 1.1 is a VERY liberal reading. That's probably between 15-16psi. I think not. Again, speaking from the perspective of severely generic, while I don't have any idea what size it's turbo is (as a matter of fact, I'm not absolutely certain where it is in the engine bay....ha ha ha), the dude who owns AllRoad (who is actually a Audi specialist) says that it is a larger turbo than what he has in his Audi 200 (a near carbon-copy of my 5000cs.) Although the only impact on my car/cars has been slight or maybe an increase in potential spending....my wife left me last August and took our children with her. To be expected, immediately after she left I was tremendously, severely, acutely depressed; not only due to the devestation of my heartbreak, but also because I was not able to see my babies for over 100 days after she left!!!! Though we have yet to formally begin the divorce proceedings, at least I now have an established visitation schedule, though it's something like every 45 days due to the distance (they're 800 miles away from me, which is a very easy trip to make once a year, but every month and a half is a killer.) Anyhow, now that I have quite a surplus of disposable cash every 2 weeks and because I'm the only decision-making authority, the capability to spend funds on the car is greatly increased. However, as it stands, right now I don't have any intention of spending wildly like I have in the past. I only intend on getting it to a solid state, ie. no leaks, no small faults that lead to major faults, and a safe, solid tune. I guess that's about it for now. edit: I think I like it. | |||||||||||||||||||||
